{"id":577,"date":"2020-04-09T20:29:21","date_gmt":"2020-04-09T19:29:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.headandshort.co.uk\/podiatrynew\/?page_id=577"},"modified":"2025-03-12T19:17:38","modified_gmt":"2025-03-12T19:17:38","slug":"laser-treatment-cost","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/headandshort.co.uk\/podiatrynew\/318-2\/fungalnailinfection\/laser-treatment\/laser-treatment-cost\/","title":{"rendered":"laser treatment cost"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As lunula cold nail lasers haven\u2019t been around for more than a few years the cost of treatment is not yet cheap, however the costs are significantly cheaper than laser for fungal nails cost 5 years ago (it is now approximately half the price).<\/p>\n<p>In addition cold lasers have been shown to have\u00a0much higher success rates (reports indicate an approximate 90% success rate for cold lasers compared with 50%-70% for hot lasers) and because we share our\u00a0laser around our four branches the cost to you is minimised further.\u00a0However, because of this you will probably not be able to start laser treatment on the same day as your assessment<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>STEP ONE: Your Assessment Appointment: \u00a375<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This\u00a0is an\u00a0<em>initial consultation<\/em> to discuss your case and help you decide which treatment plan would be best for you. The consultation lasts 20 to 30 minutes and does not normally include any treatment. The Podiatrist may recommend testing your nail(s) to check the discolouration is fungal, this may be done in-house or a sample may be sent to the laboratory. We will advise which is best based on your individual case.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Podiatrist may require you commence a course of topical treatment (such as antifungal creams) to kill any skin infection, or may recommend other treatments for your nails and also for your footwear<\/strong>\u00a0(a reservoir of fungal infection for most people).<\/p>\n<p>If you decide you wish to have laser treatment for your fungal nails you will be booked in for a pre-laser treatment appointment (to thin your nails and prepare them for laser) and your first laser treatment appointment (we usually combine these appointments together to save you time and money).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>STEP TWO: Pre-laser treatment and photography appointment: \u00a370<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Nails are cut and thinned (using a special pain-free burr), and photographs are taken of all infected nails.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>STEP THREE:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2013 <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">4 laser cycles\u00a0(for one foot or hand):\u00a0\u00a3300<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>i.e. you attend approximately once a week for 4 weeks (takes about 15 minutes a week)<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2013 <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">8\u00a0laser cycles\u00a0(for both feet or both hands)<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">:\u00a0\u00a3599<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>i.e. you attend approximately once a week for 4 weeks \u00a0(takes\u00a0about 30 minutes a week)<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">STEP FOUR:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"> <span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8211;\u00a0<\/span>1-3 month follow-up appointment:<\/span>\u00a0\u00a3 included in the cost of your 4 or 8 laser\u00a0cycles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">STEP 5:<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">additional laser treatments<\/span> (if required and recommended at the 1-3 month follow-up appointment or you have a severe nail infection):\u00a0\u00a350\u00a0for a single hand or foot (1 cycle) and\u00a0\u00a399\u00a0for both hands or feet (2 cycles)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please note: We normally ask you to email or text photos to us after your laser cycles\u00a0and before your follow up\u00a0appointment. If we cannot see adequate improvement we will discuss further lunula cycles with you.<\/p>\n<p>If at the follow up appointment\u00a0the fungus appears to be growing out successfully then we normally ask you to email or text photos to us at monthly\u00a0intervals so we can monitor your improvement (this saves you the time and expense of attending appointments).<\/p>\n<p>Most patients will be seen again for a routine\u00a0appointment to check the nails and maintain them in the months following laser treatment. These appointments are not included in the cost of your course of laser cycles but are charged at the same price as routine podiatry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>The small print:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0<strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">If the Pre-laser treatment and photography appointment is performed on the same day as your first laser treatment then the \u00a348 (STEP TWO) will not be charged<\/span>.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong><em>Photographs of the fungal nail infection are taken and added to your notes as a reference point.<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0We take photographs pre-treatment and at the follow up appointment\u00a0and sometimes at 6 months (they help us to monitor your progress during the course of your treatment).<\/p>\n<p>3.<strong>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><em>You will be required to pay for the course of laser treatment in advance.<\/em><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0We will not book you an appointment for a pre-treatment or first laser appointment until you have paid for the course of laser treatment.
