laser treatment cost

As lunula cold nail lasers haven’t been around for more than a few years the cost of treatment is not yet cheap, however the costs are significantly cheaper than laser for fungal nails cost 5 years ago (it is now approximately half the price).

In addition cold lasers have been shown to have much higher success rates (reports indicate an approximate 90% success rate for cold lasers compared with 50%-70% for hot lasers) and because we share our laser around our four branches the cost to you is minimised further. However, because of this you will probably not be able to start laser treatment on the same day as your assessment

STEP ONE: Your Assessment Appointment: £55

This is an initial consultation to discuss your case and help you decide which treatment plan would be best for you. The consultation lasts 20 to 30 minutes and does not normally include any treatment. The Podiatrist may require you commence a course of topical treatment (such as antifungal creams) to kill any skin infection, or may recommend other treatments for your nails and also for your footwear (a reservoir of fungal infection for most people).

If you decide you wish to have laser treatment for your fungal nails you will be booked in for a pre-laser treatment appointment (to thin your nails and prepare them for laser) and your first laser treatment appointment (we usually combine these appointments together to save you time and money).

STEP TWO: Pre-laser treatment and photography appointment: £48

Nails are cut and thinned (using a special pain-free burr), and photographs are taken of all infected nails.

STEP THREE:

4 laser cycles (for one foot or hand): £300 i.e. you attend approximately once a week for 4 weeks (takes about 15 minutes a week)

8 laser cycles (for both feet or both hands): £599 i.e. you attend approximately once a week for 4 weeks  (takes about 30 minutes a week)

STEP FOUR:

– 1-3 month follow-up appointment: £ included in the cost of your 4 or 8 laser cycles

STEP 5:

additional laser treatments (if required and recommended at the 1-3 month follow-up appointment or you have a severe nail infection): £50 for a single hand or foot (1 cycle) and £99 for both hands or feet (2 cycles)

Please note: We normally ask you to email or text photos to us after your laser cycles and before your follow up appointment. If we cannot see adequate improvement we will discuss further lunula cycles with you.

If at the follow up appointment the fungus appears to be growing out successfully then we normally ask you to email or text photos to us at monthly intervals so we can monitor your improvement (this saves you the time and expense of attending appointments).

Most patients will be seen again for a routine appointment to check the nails and maintain them in the months following laser treatment. These appointments are not included in the cost of your course of laser cycles but are charged at the same price as routine podiatry.

The small print:

1. If the Pre-laser treatment and photography appointment is performed on the same day as your first laser treatment then the £48 (STEP TWO) will not be charged.

2. Photographs of the fungal nail infection are taken and added to your notes as a reference point. We take photographs pre-treatment and at the follow up appointment and sometimes at 6 months (they help us to monitor your progress during the course of your treatment).

3. You will be required to pay for the course of laser treatment in advance. We will not book you an appointment for a pre-treatment or first laser appointment until you have paid for the course of laser treatment. This is to avoid failed appointments and wasted time (and keep costs down for all patients).

4. You may need additional laser treatments depending on the severity of your fungal nail infection. This will be discussed with you at your assessment appointment and may be recommended at your follow-up appointment(s).

5. Lunula laser treatment has been shown to be successful at curing fungal nail infection with cure rates ranging from 90% to 97% (see our “testimonials” page for the evidence).

6. We recommend weekly laser cycles but have treated people fortnightly (and some with even greater intervals) with similar success. It is believed that weekly treatments give the optimal result and this is what we recommend to our patients.
